Manipur Congress President Shri K. Meghachandra Singh praised the timeless contributions and legacies of Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for saving the nation and framing the Constitution during the launch of the ‘Samvidhan Bachao Rashtriya Padyatra, Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ campaign at Nachou, Bishnupur District on March 24, 2025.
During the Padyatra at Nachou in Bishnupur Assembly Constituency, Shri K. Meghachandra Singh honoured 98-year-old Congress worker Shri Laishram Satrajit Singh for his lifelong dedication to the party and the values of democracy.
In his address, Shri K. Meghachandra Singh highlighted that the Manipur Legislative Assembly can be dissolved at any time due to the violation of Article 174(1) of the Constitution, while the current suspended animation under President’s Rule is itself unconstitutional.
He emphasized that the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown no sincerity in resolving the ongoing turmoil in Manipur, leaving the youth without a future and the people without hope. He underlined that the people of Manipur now seek a fresh mandate instead of a prolonged President’s Rule, as the Constitution is being systematically undermined, and citizens are unable to move freely within their own state.
Shri K. Meghachandra Singh reaffirmed the Congress Party’s commitment to protecting the Constitution, ensuring democratic rights, and restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur through people’s participation and collective resolve.
